The Truman Show(1998)

Direceted by Peter Weir starrring Jim Carrey, this is one of carrey's most criticly popular with and i have chose to research it as Jim Carrey is able to blend drama and comedy rather than his usualy slapstick.

This was one of Jim'sfirst movies, it is also one of his most highly regarded films. Upon its release in 1994 it recieved positive reviews from critics and was certainly one his most popular early films, which incresed his reputation as a actor. The film was also nominated for sevral Golden Globes, marking the first time the actor was involved in such an occasion.
Bruce Almighty(2003) (source three)
Directed by Tom Shadyac who has previously worker with Jim on Liar Lair. This film has been Jim's highest grossing film to date, and will provide a good talking point when i discuss whether or Jim is still doing as well as he once did.

This article discusses the decline in popularity of the Hollywood A-lister. It focuses on Tom Hanks but can be adapted to any star. It mention Jim Carrey's recent release A Christmas Carol and it poor opening, the film had a budget of $200 and opened to less than $20. It also talks about the decline of DVD sales and how on demand services and how in this age people are able to find out much quicker if a movie is good or not with sevices such as Twitter.
